Brand new illustration for my Mouse from Space story yahooo! And completely done in photoshop :cheer:
Tried out a new shading technique and I have to say, I love how it turned out XD The only thing I screwed is the crystal, but I don't care hahaha XD
BEWARE! SPOILER ALERT! DON'T READ THE REST IF YOU NOT WANT TO GET INFORMATION!
In this piece I tried to represent one of the significant idea of the story, it's called Lapis Lazulli. This crystal has a really important role in the story, you will see it later. Until then enjoy the short scene I wrote X3
Lapis Lazulli
"Father, what is the Lapis Lazulli?"
"The Lapis Lazulli? Well... it seems you old enough to know the secret."
"What kind of secret?"
"A secret descending from father to son in our family. You know, many rumors say the Lapis Lazulli is the rarest and most beautiful treasure in the galaxy. When you held it, you have the feeling the crystal is alive. It pulsates with a warm light and sound soft throbs."
“Like heart beating?”
“Just like that.”
“How you know this? Maybe you saw one in your life?”
“Yes I did. It was my father who showed it to me.”
“And where is it? In the treasury?”
“No, it's on a more precious place.”
“... I-in my heart?”
“That's right. The Lapis Lazulli is not a crystal but energy that only the royal family carries, descending from father to son. It's the purest, crystallized energy in the universe with the power you can't even imagine. However, to summon this power you must have a pure heart and a pure wish. That means your purposes mustn't be self-contained but to protect someone else. Still... there's a risk...”
“Risk? What do you mean?”
“As I said before, Lapis Lazulli is a living being, created by soul and life energy. Literally, to use Lapis Lazulli you need to sacrifice your life and there's a very little chance to reverse the process. That's why I ask you son, never talk about this ability we have. If the information gets into bad hands, that will be a disaster to our kingdom. Too many person wants to grab the Lapis Lazulli, not caring about the cost. So please understand my decision.”
“I promise, I will never talk about it...”
“I trust you, son...”
